IT IS A HICKEY "SPORT BAR". IT HAS BEEN ON THERE SINCE ABOUT '87 OR SO. I GOT IT IN WICHITA, KS AT SUPER SHOPS FOR $128. THAT WOULD BE A BARGIN/STEAL TODAY. THE TRUCK HAS NEVER SEEN SNOW.

Yes, that sounds about right for the "Super shops"... It has been along time since i lived there.

As far as bolting the roll bar to the fender wells I am not sure it would work. They bolt to the bed floor currently. If you want i can attempt to take a couple of pics when it warms up a little. It is below zero here tonight.

I could not really feel any negative effects with this lift. It is a 6" Skyjacker Softride system. I purchased it with the rear springs as well. I feel that it rides better now than stock. As far as handling... it is NOT a Viper by any means but for a lifted truck it handles pretty good. No quick turning at speed though as the center of gravity is higher than stock. If you are looking for a nice ride I recommend the Skyjacker system with rear springs and the "Hydro" shocks.

The Thornbirds I have had for about 5 years or so. I do not have any problem with dry rot as of yet anyway. In Michigan it is so humid here in the summer that it is generaly not a problem. My sister lives in North Carolina and had them on her Jeep and they wore out before they rotted. She got about 25,000 miles out of them and they were bald. She had a '99 TJ wrangler with 4" lift and 33's.

What colors is it?
black and silver with a red interior. It is the royal SE package so it has all of the toys inside.

Just  a quick note to say that I just got it out of storage.  First time I have ran it since the fall of 2002.  Started up as well as expected for a carb. engine.  It has been sitting on jack stands inside a pole barn covered up and is just kinda dusty.  I forgot how low the milage was on this thing.  only 103,372 miles.  I am the orginal owner as well.  I ordered in Sept. of '85 and took delivery in Nov. of '85.  It has never seen salt.  The only snow it has seen was when I was stationed in Kansas and Texas.  Hope someone appreciates it as much as I do.  BTM

I would love to post more pics but I do not have more current ones.  Given the current crappy work environment here in MI I am layed off so I am unable to get it out this summer.  The state's extoration fee's alone are outrageous for only driving it a few months out of the year.  Jenny, our #1 state B**CH has changed the laws to make it almost financially impossible to tag more than one vehicle in MI unless you have a state job that pay's $100,000 a year.  Sorry for my rant but the facts speak for themselves here in MI.  We have the highest unemployment in the country and some of the highest business taxes.  BTM
