Nice ride!! where`d you get the light bar in the bed, the only ones i can find are Smittybilt(?). Welcome to the sight!!
IT IS A HICKEY "SPORT BAR". IT HAS BEEN ON THERE SINCE ABOUT '87 OR SO. I GOT IT IN WICHITA, KS AT SUPER SHOPS FOR $128. THAT WOULD BE A BARGIN/STEAL TODAY. THE TRUCK HAS NEVER SEEN SNOW.
it's a rare thing to see a truck like that in that part of the country that isn't rusted out. sweet truck man

There is only one word that can possibly sum that truck up

Hey, where in Wichita is that "Super Shops"? I live in Wichita now, and there is a shop down on West Central near me, was just wondering where it is, I might have to pay em a visit ;D

Randall
That might fit in an RC with some modifications. I think the back tubes are slip fit/bolted together(?). Are the tubes bolted to the wheel wells?
Yes, that sounds about right for the "Super shops"... It has been along time since i lived there.

As far as bolting the roll bar to the fender wells I am not sure it would work. They bolt to the bed floor currently. If you want i can attempt to take a couple of pics when it warms up a little. It is below zero here tonight.
That is an awesome truck.... I have some questions though...... !. COuld you tell any negative effects with the lift? How does it handle still? Does it drive like stock? I am in the process of saving for a 4 inch for my truck... im tryin to get all the opinions that i can before i drop the money for one......Also How long have you had the thronbird tires? I have heard from other peple that they have a problem with dry rotting before they wear out? Have you had this problem? Thanks
James
I could not really feel any negative effects with this lift. It is a 6" Skyjacker Softride system. I purchased it with the rear springs as well. I feel that it rides better now than stock. As far as handling... it is NOT a Viper by any means but for a lifted truck it handles pretty good. No quick turning at speed though as the center of gravity is higher than stock. If you are looking for a nice ride I recommend the Skyjacker system with rear springs and the "Hydro" shocks.

The Thornbirds I have had for about 5 years or so. I do not have any problem with dry rot as of yet anyway. In Michigan it is so humid here in the summer that it is generaly not a problem. My sister lives in North Carolina and had them on her Jeep and they wore out before they rotted. She got about 25,000 miles out of them and they were bald. She had a '99 TJ wrangler with 4" lift and 33's.

Ok thanks man.... I will probably go with the rough country 4inch with rear springs and shocks....and Im gonna try and run a 33 but i could do with a 32....Im scared to run a 33 because I have only 3.23 gears and I think It would be hard on my truck to run 33's....I had 32's on and couldnt feel one bit of difference when i switched to 31's except the 31's handled a little better.....THanks for the info...
