I need some help with this problem, the initial problem was that the signals, hazards and windshield wipers only worked when the ignition key is in the auxillary position. I figure the problem lays within the ignition module behind the steering wheel. I pulled the steering wheel and have removed signal control and now I am stuck. Down the middle of the sttering column is the rod that is held by a clip, underneath that is a collar than a spring. I have removed the clip, but the collar will not budge, is there a special tool to remove this collar. My buddy pulled another steering collumn for me but the ignition wires and signal wires are completely different. Not quite sure in which direction to procede.

Steering Column is not tilt steering, and the truck originally came equipped with an auto. transmission. The guy I bought it from installed 4 spd manual. I have it half apart and not quite sure in which direction to procede.

Any suggestion?/

The actual ignition switch in on the bottom of the steering column.

The turn signal switch is under the steering wheel.

The yellow circle is were the rod to ignition switch connects to the back side of the lock set.

The rod in the red circle is for teh headlamp dimmer on the 88. Your 84 will not have that rod so ignore it.

IMHO you are having problems with the ignition switch rather than the turnsignal switch.

That's correct I am sure that I am having a problem with the ignition module. I seem to only have the lights or wipers when in the Auxillary mode. Key when moved forward has to be wiggled for the sweet spot to start. Once I get the collar off this will help Thanks

My new ignition switch is hanging in the floorboard, cuz I've been too busy to attempt the install. I do not have a working heater with the original plugged in. Seems to be a bad spot in the electrical system of these trucks. Is it easy to get the loom ran through the column, or is it an all day job getting the switch installed?,,,,Cruisin
