ok i hope somone has some more ideas on this because i'm going crazy.last friday driving along a hilly section of road the truck started hesitating in 4 th gear so i down shifted to 3 rd and it was fine till i started to slow down to turn and it stalled out.got it started again and made it home next day it started right up but same thing i couldn't get the rpms high enough to go into 4 th now it won't start at all i have good spark but hardly any fuel getting to the carb. it's been really cold negitive 15 right now so how do i tell if the fuel system is frozen or if the fuel pump went out? i'm on a really tight budget right now so i hate to change the pump and have it not be the problem.any ideas would be great so far i have checked for spark, fouled plugs, put the engine at tdc and the distributor was pointing at no1 so the timing hasn't jumped.
i'm running points with a msd 5 and a holley 600

Actually if it has beenas cold u say u got some water well condesation build up in the lines and the tank if it has been less than half full . try a bottle of HEET and see if that helps . . Also u can check fuel pump by pulling the fuel line off the carb and see if the pump is getting fuel to the carb . if not dead fuel pump . hope this helps .

i did pull the line off at the carb and put it n a bottle while cranking it i got a little bit of gas out but not much at all. will the heet stuff work it's way through the lines with out the truck running ? i don't have a garage so theres no way fr me to warm the truck up at all.also my wife has a 87 sundance thats been having problems starting just about everyday it's below 0 untill she switched gas stations then it started right up at negitive 18 we've been getting our gas from the same bp is there gas just shit?i always thought that water would settle to bottom of the tank so i never got gas when a station was filling because it would be mixed up and i'll admit i think is all my fault because lately i haven't been over a quarter tank of gas at all

thanks

Pull the line off before the inline filter and see what kind of gas flow you get. Look at the fuel pump...does it look clean like someone washed it in gas? It may be leaking. your filter may be plugged also?

All heet is mainly Methanol it lowers the freezing point of water contained in the gasoline.

As far as I know, gas line anti-freeze (Methyl hydrate, etc.) usually only works to prevent freezing, and doesn't actually melt ice in your gas lines. Speaking from the experience of others up here where it gets REALLY cold, the best way to keep lines from freezing up, is to keep your tank as full as possible. The more fuel you have in your tank, the less room there is for condensation which ends up freezing your lines.
