I think I would mount the two center snaps and then the outside snaps, get it snapped on and see where you're at before locating the rest. The snaps will move as you tighten it.

First time I had the top off I installed the frame but didn't spend much time fighting the canvas. Decided that a soft top that only goes up when it's warm enough to be down wasn't gonna be a lot help when it gets cool. Well, that and I can get the hard top back on faster. Not sure why I'm even messing with it beyond retired and high but that's good enough reason. Think I'll start with a couple snaps behind the doors on each side and see how close the opposite ends line up.

So much for not polishing it.

I'd call it time well spent

After completely clogging the buffing wheel, decided to chase the heavy oxidation another way. Carb cleaner, razor scraper, stiff brush and shop rag for the hoops. Lots of tape residue, lots of general crap. One or two passes with 000 steel wool and aluminum polish on one of them. Should have started that way in the first place.

It's the middle of Feb, could have taken it for a blast the other day when it was 60 and sunny.
Maybe running the soft top for actual spring could be a thing.

Who made your top? I wish I had this OEM from this original 1974 photo.

I've only ever seen one outside a brochure. I think whoever designed the Soft Topper version knew from the original because they copied the windshield header. This one is a Best Top from like the 90s, based on Kay Line top.

Repop sill plates almost a dead ringer for the original but heavier gauge.

Other day I did an oil change on her lady jeep. Has a nice steel skid plate under the aluminum motor because Trail Hawk. Almost conveniently there's a couple access holes near both the filter and drain plug. Must be for the other motor because doesn't line up for shit so unbolt the skid plate. Wanna toss this one in the other bay so I can do oil changes on a couple of mine. Trying not to be too annoyed about planning an oil change for the 318 I didn't want to run this summer. I need the trans in this one for my other truck so who knows.

Also think I'll take another run at the mint Best Top I have stashed. Have had the frame mounted but bailed on trying to get the canvas to fit. Wanna see if a heat gun helps because install instructions say do it hot sun.

Does this qualify for the mirror challenge?

Original owner install day 2 train horn. Recall daughter telling me how much of a kick he got out of them.

Should have just cleaned the brushes in the pump but went for the replacement

That's where I put my fire truck air horn.
A lot more massaging because it's a BIG horn. But, it's very scary loud!
