So I've got a 79 power wagon 150, 2 barrel 318, np 435 and all time 203, and she sometimes starts after sitting for a few, but won't turn off with the key. And then after I unhook the battery to get her to turn off, she won't start again, just one click and the only way to get her to run again is to unhook the battery for like 10 minutes and then she'll run. I've already replaced my entire engine wiring harness with a NOS one, ignition switch, lock cylinder, turn signal actuator, ballast, ECM, ICM, starter relay, distributor, ignition coil, wires, plugs, and I even bypassed the ammeter like was instructed on another discussion on this website, but still no fix, no nothing. I seem to have some power draining my battery too because it sparks a little when I hook the battery up, but goes away if I unplug the ballast. And I'm not sure if this is helpful but my coil is really hot and on occasion my ballast gets hot too. I don't know what else to do, and I can't even drive then dang thing off a cliff so I need some help bad!

next question , what/where did you get the wiring harness the 1972-74 / 1975-77 are different from the 1978- 80 wire harness / the ballast and the coil should NEVER get hot unless the key is turned ON
