So, (speaking of insanely high, LOL) exactly what makes that Magnum a 1 of 500, let alone a 1 of 1, for curiosity's sake?

i had a 79 GT 12yrs ago. it was white w/red int. and the rare
GT stripes. 318, auto, 3.21SG. couldn't get the lean burn
to work right and i was just getting into mechanics so i
couldn't figure it out.
i traded it to a friend for some wood work. the thing is in the
JY now, still. i look at it every time i go there and just cry
from my stupidity.
the only thing that didn't work were the headlight covers.

In 78 dodge only made 500 Gt's it was the last body in nascar until now, and what makes it 1 of 1 is you won't find another like it, this car came with spoilers and wheel flares which i took off because of it got to much attention

Here is a pic of the slightly modified rear suspension for handling by removing the slop associated with shackles for road racing also used in oval cars

The tires are 44's the lift is a superlift kit and a 3" body lift if you look just behind it you can see how much of a difference in height from the stock rc to that almost a monster and getting in was fun also you have to be in shape to get in there also the t-case has to be lowered and the rear has to be reset for the driveshaft angles

you (or anyone that likes the magnums) should go to www.moparstyle.net to the magnum and forgotten b bodies forum there are tons of awesome magnums there. or you can go to www.magnumGT.com for info on magnum gt's. I got a 78 xe (it's green in, out, and on top :-\) for $200 with no motor, i hope mine will look like yours someday{cool}

you do know they made 861 GT's in 78, right. the wheel flares were part of the A75-GT package, but they could also be deleted if you wanted. as for rear spoiler this wasn't a Chrysler option. the only ones that have been found were on Magnum Force cars, which were a regional promotion, and a couple aftermarket co's that produced them in the 80's. if your rear spoiler has a Chrysler part # i'd love to see it.

I never found anything about 800 of them, i know in 79 they made more than 500 of them, but i believe it was less than 1100, to be totally honest on the part # thing i never really looked, but i don't remember seeing parts #'s on anything i took off, now if the spoiler is as your saying a 80's thing well i got the car from my buddies father that bought the car brand new from dodge when it was in the auto show here in NY the car was delivered to the dodge dealer that was on myrtle ave in brooklyn, i have the bill of sale and all the other paper work with it and even the letters back and fourth on the argument about the full size matching spare and rim and trim rings and center cap with dodge, nothing on that car was added Jimmy was a fanatic with that car and the second he though of selling it i got it, no one ever touched that car, but me and his son and the only thing wrong with it that i ever changed was the power steering box other than tune-ups and regular stuff, which the steering box turned into a fiasco since it was a quick ratio, another thing about the GT's is they are not recognized, they do not show up in books and parts suppliers and appraisers also know nothing about them, i did spend about week years and years ago with dodge on the phone back and fourth with several different people and the # they gave me was 500 or maybe a few more for 78 they said.
