I have a 1990 RC with a 727 tranny. Mamma took the old dog out for a drive tonight and the tranny made a loud noise when she put it in reverse. Now the truck will work in 1, 2 & drive only. When in reverse the truck will not go anywhere. What is up with that. Any help would be greatly appreciated no matter how depressing it is! ???

Could be broken planetaries, worn or faulty rear or front clutch, broken reaction shaft seal rings, low-reverse servo, band or linkage malfunction, or various lesser issues with the valve body, low fluid level, poor band adjustment, etc. Sounds like ya got some broken parts.

If it's going through all three forward gears that rules out the plannetaries. My moneys on L&R band, it's linkage, or the rev servo piston breakage. Piston and linkage can be fixed in truck, if it's the band you're hosed, tranny pulling time.
