Looks like I might be looking into a rebuild in the near future, and I want to know what my options are as far as parts. Who makes the best rebuild kits, and who supplies them? Also, if I remember right, I can use the 618 (or newer equivalent, whatever it's called) parts in my 46RE, correct? I'd like build a strong tranny, but I don't want to go overkill on it.

And since I'm a tranny rebuilding virgin, are there any tips I should know or anything I should keep an eye out for?

I was looking into this for my 46RH. Not a lot out there it seems compared to researching engine performance and other parts. Hope this helps some.....

Update 11/5/04
www.tciauto.com has a good site also

I think the phoenix place also sells a rebuild manual put out by the ATRA ( or similar authority) for about 20-25.bucks- thinking of getting that myself.
Looking around - the parts are relatively inexpensive. A full rebuild kit is 250-300 bucks. It's finding somebody to do the work right and the cost of labor that seems to be the killer.
