This may seem like a real stupid question but I am drawing a blank. I am thinking of a new project & want to put a 440 in a truck where a 360/727 sits now, is the back of a 318/360 the same as a 440 or will I need a new trans in order to do the motor swap or said a differant way will a small block trans bolt up to a big block? Thanks.

NO, you need a different transmission or bellhousing for the big block

you will need to find a 727 that came off of a bb dodge.

JVX/ Memphis Performance can set you up with an adapter plate that'll mate a big block to the small block bellhousing. This came about as a way to run the A518 with big blocks to geive them overdrive capability.
