Ok, just picked up a 1992 D60F from a 250LE CTD for $200.

Got it for my 1974 w200. Now, the 74 has the oddball/older style powersteering gearbox...it swings in a vertical arc versus the new ones that swing in a horizontal arc. It currently has a D44HD in it.

My question: Will my current drag link bolt up correctly?? Basically, will this be a direct bolt-in??

I figure someone has already done this and this will be a quick answer. I am NOT doing a crossover steering.

Thanks in advance,

u will need a draglink for a 60 instead of the 44. another thing to think about though is if ur tcase is full time. if it is, u will need to either leave the hubs on the 60 locked all the time, put in full time hubs, or make ur 203 part time or install a part time tcase. u will also need a new driveshaft.

Thanks, it is a NP205 partime 4wd truck...I knew that much.

Why do I need the drag link for the D60?? The D44HD and the D70 (both used at that time) both use the same draglink. And the D60s draglink (for the 92) will be different from my D44's because of the way my pitman arm moves through it's arc. If I use the D60s draglink, I will need to convert to the later style steering.

Why the driveshaft? Mine should be pretty close in length, if anything it will need shortened because of the D60s added length, if any. The yokes are the same. I might even have enough travel in the splines to use it in stock form. I do not have the compound/CV style driveshaft. This is also the same length driveshaft used in the D70 of that era.

u should need a draglink from a d60 from the era that used the same steering setup that u use. something about them is different, not sure what though. if u use the drag link from the 92, then u will need a new style box in the 4x4 location, which u can also get from the 92 and is easy enough to swap. as for the drive shaft, the pinion on the 60 is longer. if u have enough slip thats great, but make sure that u do indeed have enough for when the suspension fully cycles or else something expensive is going to break.

See, that is the problem. They did not offer a D60 with my style of steering. Only the D44 and the D70.

I can have a driveshaft shortened, that isn't a big deal...but it was something I did not really consider. And again, the D44 and D70 use the same shaft.
