Hear is my 81 cheap build fun truck. The wife and I both have several other rigs projects.

The truck belonged to my father in law he was a very avid hunter and outdoors man. The truck just got parked 3 yearsyears due to the clutch not working. He got sick shortly after and passed a year ago. We recently moved back to Montana and my wife and I both felt he would want it back in the woods. So hear is what we got.

1981 w150 club cab 360 435 208 44 front 9.25 rear 3.21 gears and limited slips front and rear.

What its gotten so far. Started with your standard trucks been sitting tune up oil change fuel pump. That got it running good for a 42 year old truck. The clutch fix was easy the clip for the rod had broken turns out I had one in my tool box.

Next is a 4" lift to replace the trashed leaf springs. 37" pitbull rockers Red Head box cross over steering and arg ram assist. And some better seats. All im currently wating on is the rest of the lift to show up.
All things he wanted to do just never could. Lpp

i really like the dodge xtra cab you are getting ready for the woods
mean looking
you guys are not afraid to put a truck to the test.
dave in NC:)
Oh we will definitely use a truck. Most just aren't built to look at.
I saw a bumper like that on a Chevy parked in a lot not too long ago. The bumper may look good, but your truck still has a crumple zone. The front of the truck I saw was completely mashed, but hey, the bumper still looked good. lol
Yep and I personally don't even like the bumper. I haven't changed it cuz it works but looks like the truck has a fat lip.
Today's project was to swap steering boxes.

So out with the old crusty and in with the new used ported box
I got the box used from a buddy in TX that I also got the wheels and tires passenger knuckle and cross over. Alot of old parts of his Ramcharger as he's going 1tons and 44s full hydro.

Got the rest of my lift kit in today so tomorrow it get a little taller and will clear the tires better. Biggest complaint I have about the 4speed dodge trucks is how low the cross member hangs. That is on the list but not the top.

Was able to get the rear mostly done before the rain hit. Dont like the stacked blocks so a flip will happen sooner than later.

With the suspension work done for now it was time to move on to the interior. The factory bench seat had seen better days 20 years ago. I had grabbed a bench from the ranch but quickly found out why it had been in the barn and not a truck. It was from a 70s Ford and nothing fit. With my want to drive the truck some thing had to be done. So I jacked the seats out of my toyota snow wheeling project.

So a quick scrounge around for some metal to make temporary brackets And boom seats.

I don't like them in this truck so next will be a bench again or the bench bucket seat from my 3rd gen parts truck. That will eventually give up its 5.7 hemi.

Now that I had a seat and could see it was time for a drive. That dream was very short lived when the power steering pressure hose decided not to work hear any more. I also found my passenger caliper was locking up. So a few messages later to my good buddy in Texas whom I had gotten the tires wheels and steering from. He had hubs spindles caliper bracket and hoses on the way. So she sat the whole 3 day weekend with no love. Wensday parts arrived and I got them on Thursday. A quick swap of a line and pulling the hub apart again we made a successful 4 mile drive.
