So a couple years back we were at a cookout at a family acquaintance and on the back side of their property there was several old trucks, tractors, etc. One of the trucks was a 70s dodge and another was a 1953 willys truck. Both looked like either parts trucks or projects. Obviously, I was curious about the dodge but both looked to have been sitting for a long time. Turns out the willys was a project and the dodge was going to be used for its chassis etc. Willys has original frame, international axles and dodge engine tranny transfer case. That's why he purchased the dodge parts truck. Figured the hard parts were already swapped. Anyways, fast forward until now, the gentleman gets a hold of me and says he'll never get to it and asks if I'm interested, he'd like them out of his yard.

They each have a 360. I think one has eddy intake and one is stock intake. The dodge is 203. The willys I believe has a 208. Reverse was out of the dodge when he drove it back and the willys also drove back but that was years ago.

He has the dodge drug up the hill to the driveway and ready to load so I think I'm going to try to get it today. The willys has no wheels but appears to be 5x5.5 so I'm going to try to find some wheels to aid in getting it up the hill. If there's anything to work with I think I'll move forward with his original plan of willys body and dodge everything else.

Nice! A Willys (Willis people, not Willeez 🤣) is on my list ever since Stacy David built the Wicked Willys on Trucks back in the day! They’re sweet. Good luck grabbing them!

'79 was the last year for a 203 but the box on that Dodge is an 80's box. Is it a mix of the two? I can't see the back of the cab's roof to tell if it's a 70's cab or 80's cab.

It's a pound puppy, the truck is a 79 but has an 80s bed. 203 case but has locking hubs. 79 cab but the only thing saveable out of it is the visors, pedals, rear window, airbox, and ironically enough, the glove box lid and dash are both good. Frame looks decent. Rims are good, tires shot. Eddy carb and intake. It will make a good donor for the willys.

I rounded up a set of wheels to put on the willys so that we can move it around easier. It was sitting on blocks. I wire wheeled the studs and bolted them up. When it dries out a little bit we will drag it through his yard and I can haul it home. I'm kind of excited to open this can of worms and see what I got

I plan on removing the willys body pretty quick so I don't plug up all my space. Pull the drivetrain and send the rest to the scrap yard. The frame looks shot. I don't know if anybody would want the international axles or not. Closed knuckle... no idea what they are strength wise.

On another note. The crewcab didn't even know it was pulling anything.
