Well before I sent the 1 ton off to the scrap heap I cut the front end off. I figured I'd sell some of it on ebay. It was an 86 2 wheel drive. What makes it special? Is it just the springs or is everything else heavy duty?

I did keep it. Now I've got 2 of them. I was suprised to see how much more of a beefier unit it is compare to the one out of a 78 3/4 ton. When the truck left here it was only half a frame, half a bed and the shell of a cab.

I was just wondering about the control arms and if they are different than the other trucks.

the control arms are hot right now!

if you check out the lower control arm the spring pocket should be recessed more.

which for us 2wd guys, gives us a lower ride, when we use our stock 1/2 ton springs. if you used the 1 ton springs youd have a close to stock height but much stiffer.

if you used 1 ton spring in 1/2 ton control arm, should give you a lift since its longer to compensate for the spring pocket.

you must reuse the 1 ton lca bolt. it is bigger and so is the bushing.

you then drill out your control arm mount to match.
