the 3208 isnt a semi engine its a smaller off road loader engine like a 950 or 966 do you under stand that a motor that has to haul 80,000 lbs allday is just not gonna fit in a pick up frame

That truck is all over youtube. I think its been painted. they use it only for pulling which it does pretty good. It has a 6V92 which isn't a semi truck engine but more of a RV Coach firetruck engine they had to raise it 2 feet just to clear the tranny and flywheel housing. Thats pretty much the same approach Drums would have to do. Now a 6V-53 could be made to fit with minimal lift.

I actually like the noise and whine of the 2 strokes. I hear them every day at work.
They don't turn anymore RPM then any other Diesel engine. Because their 2 cycle and the exhaust valves open on every stroke verses every other of a 4 cycle they sound twice as fast as they really are going.

I guess I should have prased my last post better.......I do love the sound of them but I wouldn't install one in a daily driver vehicle like this guy's talking about building. I too hear diesels run at work all day and after 10 hours theres day's I get sick of hearing them rattle............just to walk out the back door and get into my straight piped F-350 and drive home LOL

well i know this topic looks about dead now but why not try to swap in a 7.3 powerstroke if your looking for a big motor those were pretty sweet in the ford, and apparently this guy has never twin turboed a stang its super easy once you relocate the battery top the back remove the ac and smog pumps, and ditch the stock fan and shroud you get loads of room, im in the process of doing mine now building the motor to a 331 stoker before adding the hair dryers its gonna be sweet

If you want a diesel you might as well use the Cummins 6B or 4B. The V8 would seem like more work. I don't know much about Detroit diesel options.

i dont understand why you wouldnt wanna just put in a 6bt from a 12v cummins into it, it would be alot easier and those engines can be built up to produce alot more power than a semi engine. (a cat c15 makes bout 475hp/1800tq depending on the power output you want), but i have ridin in a 2nd gen dodge 2500 that made 1000 hp to the wheels and over 2000tq. i just dont see why you would go that route other than the WOW factor

In my humble opinion........ I think the only possible practical swap would be a 6v53. Not too big and can be set up to pull about 3200 RPM. ... just my 2 coins

If you can make 1000HP out of a 6BT, imagine what you can do with an 860 cubic inch version like a Cummins NHC 250? Or you could go even larger. You might make more power out of a 6BT than some stock road tractor engines but the larger engine can almost always make more power with similar modifications. There is no substitute for cubic inches. The chassis and drivetrain limitations are still there of course, but there is nothing that limits a larger engine from making much more power than a 6BT.

How does that truck run towing a 15,000 lb trailer up an 8% grade?

BTW, here's a 3600 lb Cummins N14 installed in a (slightly) modified F150. http://www.dieselpowermag.com/features/ford/0810dp_1995_ford_f150_cummins_diesel/index.htmlYou gotta feel sorry for that NV4500.

That is the epitome of "mullet". Business in the front, party in the back! The factory 300ci straight-six is still under the hood and has the easy life. Its only duties require keeping the front on the ground and running the accessories.

I think it's pretty much thru. He deleted his account after everyone basically told him his idea wouldn't work and even if he stuffed it in the frame, it would never be safe enough to drive. Not to mention he's in California so I don't know how in the hell he ever planned to get it past smog checks to get it tagged. They'd take one look at it before they ever let it in the building to test it and then probably call the police out to do a safety check on it and he'd go home with a stack of tickets and a half ass concocted truck loaded on a trailer. I'm sure theres a hacked up RC parked behind his parents garage with a pile of parts sitting beside it while he's sitting in his room planning his next brainstorm of a idea to endanger the general public on the road.

I agree. Imagine the what we all could have accomplished in the amount of time we watched this thread about an idea gone very bad...........i feel stupider every time I look back thru it and read about the product of this kid's brainstorming
