Title: Loose and Floppy tilt steering column.

Weak Link: Tilt steering column develops unsafe flopping condition.

Models affected: 74-93 Ramchargers and Pickups with Saginaw tilt steering column.

What happens: Over time the bolts that join the tilt joint to the steering column loosen.

Sturdy fix: Disassemble steering column to the tilt assembly. Remove the four bolts that connect the two assemblies and coat the threads of the bolts with Loctite 271 (red) thread locker and reassemble.
To complete this fix you will be disassembling most of the steering column. including the turn signal switch and ignition key assembly to get to the tilt assembly.
There are also couple of tools that you will need to make this job easier. A steering wheel puller and a lock plate press.

Contact: Any local parts store will be able to supply you with the thread locker and the special tools.
