This is a simple overview of some of the basic formatting functions of this (and many other) boardsoftware:
LINKSPlease use the link tags, if you post a link. The use of those tags will ensure that the complete link will work as such, e.g. on some links that contain commas, the boardsoftware will cut off the clickable portion of the link after the first comma.
The use of the link tags is as follows:
http://www.yourlink.com
Code above results in
http://www.yourlink.comIn case your link is very long, or you don't want to split up your paragraph by posting a link, you can give a link text, that will be then clickable. Here's how you use this feature:
link text
Code above results in
link text*Note: the link text can contain multiple words as well as spaces
FORMATINGThere is a couple of formatting options you have, such as bold, italic, underlined or lists. I'll give examples of each below:
Boldyour bold text here
Italicyour italic text here
Underlinedyour underlined text here
List
- first item
- second item
- third item

first item

second item

third item
*Note: the list can contain as many items as you want
Quote

If you look closely, each starting tag has a corresponding ending tag (the one with the / in it). So, if you want to use the buttons on top of the message field, please put your text in between the 2 resulting tags (opening and closing tag) of whatever option you chose.
Following this little Board 101 should give you an idea how to use the basic formatting functions which will allow you to express yourself a little better in an internet forum. Remember, voice modulation doesn't work in written communication, so use Smilies and font formatting instead.
