You could dang near run the michelin military tires on the RC, of course that wouldn't be the best idea unless you were running military axles I guess.
I like it just how it is right now. I'm kind of a fan of smaller tires and a bigger lift. Probably because I'm cheap, and poor too I guess.

The main reason I wanted a little more lift than tire was so I didn't have to dissect the body panels to make them fit.

Yeah, you don't want to mess up the body. If it looked like my truck it wouldn't matter so much, its got rust everywhere.

Overall, my truck is in really good shape for the year. It has some large dents, but they aren't really creased. I just need to pop them out and make sure the panel isn't stretched. The only rust is over the rear wheel wells. On topic, the drop pitman arm (#DA600) and brake line hardware are incoming. I also had to swap my old calipers since they'd rusted up and the bleeders broke off.

A few small updates... I got some brake lines pieced together. It took me a little research and development time to make the '85 Chevy calipers on all four corners work with the Dodge brake lines. I couldn't use the stock brake lines because the T's were integrated into the line. All of the brake line parts only cost me about $140. I also got a pair of mirrors from a mid 80's Dodge truck at the pull-a-part yard. Mine was missing the passenger side mirror.

Yea, I have those springs in the front and rear. Before anyone catches it, I have new studs to replace the hack-job bolts/spacers on the passenger side spring plate. I haven't put them or the new u-bolts in up front yet (or in the rear).

I searched around for t-case drops from the factory. They remove the top brace and then put a spacer between the bottom cross member and the frame. I'm going to use 2" square tube between the cross member and frame. That will make the rear drive-shaft angle about 19* at the output and when I rotate the rear axle up 10*, that's make it about 4* down from the drive-shaft center line.

When you drop the transfer case it increases the angle for the front shaft.

Dropping the case 2" will put the front shaft at almost the same operating angle as the rear. I had thought about that and degree'd that out as well.

I Got the t-case drop it yesterday. Took a little longer than I planned. I didn't get to take any pictures and measure it out. That's going to be done tomorrow weather permitting. I'll post my measurements and angles along with the pictures.

I leveled the rear of the truck, took about 4" of lift out of it. Now, the front of the truck is about 1" higher than the rear w/ weight on it. That's without a front bumper as well. In the next month, I will be ordering my drive shaft and getting it on the road.
I've been working on finishing the front axle as well. I'm finishing up the steering, the tie rod is done but I need to finish the drag link.
-The list of things to finish before I can do a test drive: Install rear drive shaft Finish steering peices Reinstall fuel tank
-Things that I'll need to finish to make it fully road worthy: Mount up the shocks Install front drive shaft Rear gear rear end (4.10s to match the front)
New pictures will be on the way some time this week.

Here is the truck sitting on it's own weight, the front is about 3" higher. There is no bumper on the front end, once I'm done with that, it'll probably drop the front another 2" or so. If that's not enough, I have a set of zero-rates that I can put in the rear. Here is the new steering installed as well. It's not done, the 3/4" heims don't flex enough for the drag link to have any droop. I'll be ordering some misalignment spacers for those, but otherwise the steering is done.

It has been a while since I have updated this. I spent some time away training with my Army unit, so I had to take a break. I am back and things are rolling again. I am about a half day away from taking the truck on it's maiden voyage. I have modified the rear suspension one more time, the front axle is all buttoned up and the drive-shaft is assembled and half way installed. The front end is now only about 2" higher than the rear, that should settle out once I have the bumper on. Pictures will be coming once I get back home.

Almost took it out for a maiden trip this afternoon. Already ran in to a couple of issues. - brakes are SPONGY as hell, need to re-bleed - wrong u-joint straps (one on there work, but not trustworthy) - clutch linkage is disconnected somewhere - this thing is a CHORE to climb in to! - there's a mud daubers nest behind the driver side headlight (found out the hard way, ouch!)
I'll have a video posted in the next few days when I get the linkage figured out. The brakes and straps work enough to test it out down the road and back. I don't have shocks on it right now either, I need to get the mounts for those made up as well.

The brakes are still spongy, but got it out of the driveway today. When the wife gets the video uploaded, I'll put it on photobucket. I made about a $200 mistake on the drive-shaft. My enthusiasm and ignorance lead me to get the wrong CV parts. I got all of the pieces put together and installed and it's not a ball & stud double cardan joint setup. It binds like all hell and I need to get the new parts ordered next week. I'm so irritated right now with this setback.
**updated for video

how 'bout a video showing how you get in that beast? Funny thing is, I tore up the cartilage in my left knee this past Sunday playing softball. Until that heals, I CAN'T get into it, haha. I jump up, back facing the seat, and put my butt on the door sill. Then, I grab the steering wheel, turn and stand up. That's easier than trying to stick my foot up by the door hinge and pull on the steering wheel and door jamb. Steps and exterior handles are in the plans.

You need a big concrete block to park beside! OR, park in a 3' deep, Ramcharger size hole, so you could walk right out the door! OK, maybe a step and handle would be better.

If you've ever been to an old city like Charleston, SC they had big square stones in front of everyone's house for people to step onto while getting out of the horse-drawn carriages. Maybe you need to invest in something like that!

I'm just going to park next to the side patio, it's about 3' high and I'll be able to step right in then.

What mods are needed to the driveshaft with that much lift. Also what hieght should/do the driveshafts need modified? Thanks. Freeking sweet Rc

Neglecting the updates here a little...
The alternator took a dump, so a 90a unit from a 1998 3.3L Grand Caravan is in place. I used the brackets from a late 80's truck and a pulley from an early 90's truck. An ammeter bypass was done at the same time.
A custom swaybar is in place as well. Torsion bars and both ends of the bar from a 1994 Rodeo made the contribution. I made 18" bars out of 1/4" flat stock, 1.5" wide and used sway bar links from a 1996 Chrylser LHS. Pictures will be coming soon, once the wife gets home and I can get back outside working on it.
I need to bleed the breaks one more time and it'll be ready to drive.

In Kentucky; Maximum of 96" wide, 11'6" tall and 26'6" long for a single vehicle. Tire grooving is prohibited. Must stop from 20mph within 40' and have a mechanical parking brake. Headlights have a minimum of 24" and maximum of 54". Windshields and wipers are required. Mufflers are required; cutouts and bypasses are not allowed. That's everything that I know of. I am only in violation of two of those things right now, the mufflers and parking brake. Both are in the works to be fixed however. I'm going to use an Audi caliper/rotor combo with custom bracket for the parking brake.

The headlight height range is nice compared to the bumper height laws. I'm not even sure what the laws are here in MN but I believe its 25" to the bottom of the bumper. Funny thing is, my RC is level with most of the new Ford trucks when they drive by (top of their box sides are level with my door/bottom of the side windows).
You must have gotten the driveshafts straightened out, no more binding?

Yes, I got a new CV setup in there and all is fine. I had to swap out the degree shims; I had 10* in there and only needed 6*. I still need a flange for the front axle before I can put in the front drive-shaft. Here is a good link for your lift laws... Minnesota Lift Laws

Pictures of the recent installations... This is the alternator from a 1998 Dodge Grand Caravan. I used a pulley from a truck and the bracket is from yet something else. Both were Gen 3 vehicles, that's about all I know for sure. The pulley had to have the inside machined down .375" so that it would bolt to the alternator. Otherwise, it was a direct install along with doing the ammeter bypass and accompanying 4 gauge wire install to handle the new current. There's about $60 in the swap all together, a friend hooked me up on the machining of the pulley. This is the sway bar setup that I installed. I used the torsion bars out of a 1994 Isuzu Rodeo and grabbed the brackets off of both ends as well. The arms are just 1/4" flat stock that is 1.5" wide and from sway bar center to end link bolt, 18" long. The end links are from a mid 90's Chrysler LHS and the bushings are Energy Suspension 1" bushings. I have about $65 in the whole setup, I already had the nuts and bolts. I think I am going to make the arms about 2" shorter, but shouldn't be a problem how they are now. The marks you see on the shocks are from installation. The only problem that I don't have resolved yet is how to keep the bar itself from sliding to either side.

Lookin bad ass blasphemous !!! And i would have to agree that flat strap looks alil long but I like ur sway bar idea let me know how well it works and I'll do it on my truck
And to fix ur problem why don't u weld a sleeve or 2 really thick washers on the end of both sides of the bar holding it off of the mouning bracket the sleeve/washer wouldn't slide threw the hole on the sway bar bushing thus holding the bar in place

I have an idea to make clamps for the bar, I'll take pictures and write up the details on whatever I get to work.

Nice RC. I can't wait to see it done. That thing is huge. I always say you can't have a car too fast or a truck too big . I noticed it looks like you have new doors on it. If you do can I ask where you got them. I need some for my Power Wagon and can't find any. Keep up the good work and keep the pictures coming.

Those are actually the doors that were on the truck when I started. The passenger door isn't so nice looking, it has a huge dent in it. I welded up the holes from the old mirrors and installed new ones. It's definitely a 20 footer, when you get up close, all of the little defects are obvious.

I can take some better pictures, I need to get out and do some more work to it anyway. I'll post them up when I get them.

Here are a couple of pictures of the business ends of my drag link... Here's a picture of my $40 tube bumper, 4.5" dia by 1/4" wall. It'll work for now, but I plan on adding some tube to the top to protect the front end and adding some off-road lights.
