Well I pulled the front springs out AGAIN & added in the fitted leaf spring. That gave me a little more weight carrying capacity. Also now I have the full 6" of lift up front. so now when I put the D60 in the front the RC will be sitting level Grin.

Hows this look for a rear shackle angle? The full weight of the RC is on the springs.

That setup looks way better than anything factory. Agree

Damn fine work Jim!  If you are going to wheel this truck, you might want to slide the bracket forward just a little to give the shackle a little more room to droop.  If it's just going to see mostly street duty, I'd leave it where it is.  All depends on what you want to do with it.  Be careful though, too much angle and the shackle can flip up and be "locked" against the frame by spring tension.  It all varies with the springs, weight, shackle length and other factors.

Is there a preferred angle for offroad and for highway ?

Depends on what you want.  As I said, if it's more neutral, it will flex both ways, but if you move it too much it will lock against the frame.  There's a "sweet spot" to put them in but it depends a lot of what springs you are using.  Some springs flex good enough to get a lot of droop, generally these are light springs and longer ones, the shorter or stiffer (or more lift), the tighter the pack is and it won't droop as much.  Since most highway travel requires very little droop, the angle Jim has his at now is just fine as it allows plenty of up travel.  It all depends on the setup.  As long as the shackle is angled to the rear enough to make it swing backward as the suspension cycles and is not angled so far that is locks, it's golden, but there is a little bit of flex to be gained in the angle, if desired and if the springs will allow it.

Hey Jim...Tough decision on the rear shackle angle...Here is the 4BT RC...Longer shackle and hanger a bit forward from yours...Just reference I suppose. My RC's top was already cut off at this point in time, so the rear was fairly light...

I will probably run a braided stainless steel hose up to the engine compartment with a hydraulic brass breather on it. That will keep it out of harms way & keep any dirt out of it.

Jim some how I never read this whole thread  Shocked I missed the whole painted axles thing, once again great work.

You mention being able to get DOM I'm gonna need 1.5" OD/1.0" ID .250" wall to make my X-over can you get a price and weather there is a minimum length order. And if you still have the stock 30 spline axle parts and want to be rid of them let me know.

May be the NY chapter can setup sometime at your house this coming spring for a wrenching party to get the CTD in Goldie.

Thanks Rick!!
How long of a piece of the 1.500 X .250 DOM to you need? I had to buy a whole length so I still have some left. The stock 30 spline axles I sold on Ebay last winter. I still have a posi unit & a set of SRW front hubs for the slectro style hubs & a GOOD R&P for the D60.

I don't remember the measurement off the top of my head buy want to say it was 4' and change as 5' is sticking in my head I'll re measure. I could use the Slectro hubs (I keep killing them and swear the new set I just put on will be my last and I'm going to drive plates) and may be the posi unit what's the break on it I'm currently running 4.11's

And check out These guys for custom switches for the console.

I DO have the DOM tube. I just have to see what I paid for it. The posi had a 4.10 R&P on it. I also have the D60 OEM 4.10 R&P. All this came out of a D60 rear. It did NOT have the 35 spline axles. I do NOT have the slectro lock out hubs but I have the spindle hubs.

No problem Jim just let me know It's one of those things I keep putting off Kinda cause the cheapest I found it online was $11.00 a foot then it looks like the link will hit my front springs. So we were going to head down to SC to check on my buddies Challenger in the resto shop and the owner said he will get me a stick of whatever I need but we didn't go.

Then my brain starts working and I was looking at 2.0" OD .5" wall DOM thinking well I wont bend it but It might be a bit much. Roll Eyes

Sure why not send them to RichBogart at Gmail. A posi is better then a open till I decide which locker I want.

The D60 posi came out of a late 80s early 90s Dodge pickup with the D60HD rear. It's the rear I built for this RC. It also had the anti lock rear brakes on it. That ring can be popped right off if needed. I am thinking about the spring NY Chapter Meet/BBQ/Wrenching Party.
