i new i had seen that somewhere with the tubing put into the rockers ..... got any pics or do i need to look back ? i have been thinking about doing that to mine

You know, I have some pictures of when they were in the process, but it was years ago and on a different PC, so not sure where they are. Probably stored on a floppy disc.  Tongue

I do have a pic of the body tub as it was just being put back on the frame. The angle is pretty good, and you can see the shape of the tubing used for the sliders. I hope this helps at least a little.

The sliders are not connected to the frame rails, they were welded in where the factory rocker panels would go.

The sliders are not connected to the frame rails, they were welded in where the factory rocker panels would go.

So did you just cut out side of the rockers out & inserted the rectangular tub in it's place??

Keep up the great work.

I got some factory seconds from Corbeau Seats. They were the Moab model and I just had them recovered. The seats I had before that were out of an Acura Integra from the 90's.

I dropped the RC off at Seguin Canvas & Awning this morning and picked it up after work. I was very pleased with the way it turned out and the price wasn't bad either. It's fastened with commerical grade Velcro and is made out of a material used for boat covers, so is water, tear and fade resistant. They rolled the edges, sewed he Velcro, and did cut outs for everything including the grab handles. I drove it on the highway and there was very little flutter it is attached so well.

You can also see the fire extinguisher, Radflo off-road jack & grab handles that were installed & I don't think I posted pics of. I got a Mopar squeeze ball at an automotive conference & never knew what to do with it. Turns out that it works just right as a pad between a CB antenna and your paint.  Smiley

Cool!  How does it go when you romp on it? Beer

It's kind of doggie and slow... nothing for Sam to worry about at Ram Jam.  Roll Eyes

Brad, Looks AWESOME!!!
I hope my RC comes out at least 1/2 as good as yours Smiley. You have got to be so proud to drive her. Also tell all the guys that worked on her they did an awesome job!!!!!!

PS; Thanks for the pic fix!! I was going through withdrawl.

Thanks Jim! I'm sure your RC will come out awesome and there are many of us watching every step.  Wink

That's great!
It looks like everything has come together nicely for you.  Agree

Thanks Tony  Smiley    Speaking of cheap version... I was actually thinking about buying an oiled canvas tarp from Tractor Supply Co and having Missy cut & sew the edges to fit the roll cage dimensions. She was afraid it would tear up her sewing machine, so I went this route instead.

Canvas tarp $65 6' x 10'
Custom top $228

Not really that bad considering the velcro is sewed in and the material is more water repellant and durable than regular canvas.

Brad,
Anything new???
I don't know how you got to page 3 but I had to move you back up Wink.

I've been crazy busy at work, but I am supposed to start some new stuff on the RC this coming weekend. The only thing I can think of that's already done...

New B&M Mega Shifter-truck series which works great. The Hurst shifter sucked!

Took it to the annual Mopar Club of San Antonio's car show last month and it was a blast. I've also wheeled it at Cline Ranch ORP, which is a hard core rocks & hill climbs kind of place. The Texas chapter had a pretty good showing & there's a thread on the TX Chapter board.

Coming up:
Winch basket, HID lights that work, spare tire carrier, roof rack, completed hard top and a few other things I'd like done this year. After the first... well, I'm looking for about 40-50 more hp and have some ideas, and I'm thinking of moving the rear axle back 2-3".

Other than that? I've just been enjoying it with the family.  Smiley

I posted that I needed some on the "Parts Wanted" board and Comrade Cheddar sent me an IM saying he has a truck with nice panels he was parting out. I found a lot of good stuff that way. Sometimes I had to repost or bump a wanted threaded once a week for a couple of months, but I usually found what I was looking for.

I've been looking for an AC controller for two years, and finally found one of those as well. Tony from PA has one and shipped it today!  Smiley

I hated my Hurst shifter also. That's how I smoked the 727 the the 440 RC Cry. I since replaced it with the Art Carr Z gate shifter & that is a great shifter. How did you do at the car show? Any pics of it?

wish i'd noticed your a/c request. a lot of those are still in chrysler warehouses. but unless you have an old time parts guy or they have the old books they have no way of looking it up. what you can do in trhe future is get the p/n off the control and ask the dealer to run it. some of the old numbers are still good. some superceed to later model #'s.   i will have to post for panels or armrests. thanks for the info.

How did you do at the car show? Any pics of it?
Jim

The Mopar club in San Antonio doesn't give out trophies or 1st through whatever. They just do top twenty plaques, and with nearly that many super nice Hemi cars, fuel injected 500ci cars w/Keisler 5 speeds and $10,000 paint jobs, plus being at a muscle car show & was the only truck there... no I didn't get a plaque. It was still a ton of fun.

There was an endless parade of people looking at it. Not only that, Missy made up a small placard & put it on the driver's window saying, "feel free to open doors". People really liked that because most are too short to see inside. That and the prestine muscle car group all had placards that said, "Don't Touch".

I didn't take pictures at the show, but I did get a picture of the RC by a professional photographer as part of the entry. It's pretty cool. I'll see if I can scan it & post it later. It's huge.

I got a virus on my home PC and had to wipe the hard drive. I uploaded all my photos to Shutterfly to save them. I'll see if I can find something this weekend & post it. If not, I'll try to shoot some pics & post them up.
