Thanks y'all  Smiley  It is extremely gratifying to have this rig rolling - worth every penny and every moment spent to build it.  This truck is literally the RC I have always wanted, and to have been blessed with the skills and determination to see it through is great.  I'll say this - anyone can build the truck they want.  May take a while to get the resources in line, but it can be done - this is mine.

Got the snafu with my photo host squared away and got a couple pics.

yankin' and bankin' over the curb...

made some shields for the y-pipe, seems to make a nice difference right where it counts

Think I got the brakes and valve cover cured - will know tomorrow.

...this!

'93 MegaCab 4xdually; Cummins, NV5600, D80/D60, air bags, 19.5's, blue n black paint Nacho-style  Cool.  We've got all the parts, but that project won't be for a while - I'm taking a break  Tongue

But first, I gotta fix the Demon - last October I artfully piloted it tail-first into a concrete wall.  We're coming back from dinner, it was raining, it has over 350 hp, and I was dumb, but thankfully it wasn't mortal, just a flesh wound.  There are those that have...and those that will...

...and of course we have to build my wife's car - '68 Charger  Cool - it is actually my first car, and it is her wedding present  Smiley.  She used to have a '69 but had to let it go, and we're gonna build it exactly how she wants...and she's no wuss Agree.

So yeah, plenty of things to dwell on.  Add (Lord-willing) kids in the future and we gots a full plate, ja?!!  Grin

Hey Sam, will you have to register that big truck as something other than a p/u?  I know that in WA, there is a limit to the wheelbase on p/u trucks, but the sky's the limit if you get it registered as a straight truck over 10,000 lb GVWR.

I wonder if this thread can get tagged for some sort of archive.  There has to be enough merrit here to make it historical.  Then the question is will the Charger or Demon get threads there in Ram Charger land??

As for the Charger, the last couple of years there have been a LOT of VERY nice products come out for the Mopar B and E body cars.  Bolt in brakes and suspension upgrades should make it a much less labor intensive task than Nacho.  I believe the recipe will be:  Bored, Stroked, Fuel Injected, 5-Speed with a suspension and chassis that can both stop and turn with the best of them.

I gotta talk Sam and Tracy into sitting down to watch some of SpikeTV's Bullrun if they re-air it.  The Charger in that show was a very nice example of where to start...

.Ben

PS:  Sam's Charger already has a VERY redneck 'O1' on the side of it.  Someone put it there with duct tape on his wedding day...  Must of been  someone evil....  Lips Sealed

Question:  Can you park the General Lee in a General's parking spot on base??? hmmm... Cool

We definitely like the hard tops, and KillerBee got it pretty close.  We don't know what we're gonna do with it, but for sure it will be 'Pro Touring' - meaning cross-country capable, big power, very wide rubber but not tubbed, very good suspension and brakes, very comfortable, very big tunes, cruise, a/c, etc.  We'll most likely put the $ into the comfort factor and not so much the horsepower.  We want to do an EFI Stage V Hemi but that just about doubles the $ for the whole car.  We'll see - lots to do before we pull any of those triggers.

Sweet - we got brakes Agree.

Problem was vacuum boost, or lack of it.  See, the engine is pulling 19.8 lbs of vacuum at idle...and that's a lot, so it seems the engine is reeeeeal tight inside.  I also installed a stand-alone vacuum reservoir under the dash, and had the brake booster fed by the reservoir and the reservoir fed by the intake manifold.  Well, seems there's something jacked up with the feed to the reservoir.  I connected the manifold direct to the brake booster and presto-chango - good, solid brakes.

So, as of now the Nacho is 'up and running'.  Tie off a couple loose ends with wiring, safety gear, and accessories, and we're golden.

Sweet, as of today the truck is a 'success' Agree.

you gotta ask yourself, if you had a ramcharger that cool, would you want to sit at the computer?

Still have all of it  Smiley  I haven't reinstalled the safari rack yet - it's the same hard top.  1/4 doors are way back on the to-do list, but the soft top will most likely go on during the summer.  We'll leave the hart top on until then.

Been resolving small bugs - brakes, valve cover leaks, etc, and getting the diesel ready to pull the RC to Moab  Wink

it just looks so darn skinny with those tires/rims ..... doesn't quite look to sit as wide through the tires as most rigs.... perhaps that is by design....

I wanted a bigger offset on the wheels, these are like 4.5" on an 8" rim - looks skinny.  I wanna get some wider rims and tires sooner or later  Wink.

Been working on the diesel a bit to get it up to steam for hauling the RC to Moab.  Cleaned out the radiator, changed oil and replaced with Amsoil, and found/fixed a big boost leak.  Max'd at 23 psi before, hit's 35 psi now  Cool.

On the RC, got the valve cover leak(s) apparantly fixed and am widdling down on the brakes - they're close - good enough to go, but I want them perfect.  Just shot some flex shots.  No laughing - it's the biggest bump in our front yard...  Grin

I was about to say... the General is way overplayed.  Do something original with it... something we've never seen before... something we'll never expect... something that we will never see coming. Wink

I know I know a BULLIT Charger R/T clone with 20 sets of hubcups too  Grin

Didja find that one somewhere and just run it on the back because it looks good?
