Ok here's what's going on.

I'll keep you all up to date on this car as i rebuild it, i was originally going to use the stock 318 heads with a P&P but a set of 340 heads popped in the mixture.

Edit : to clear things up some, the engine is not finished, i'm just listing the stuff that's going to be done to it.

Edit : Went with the 340 instead of the 318

I'm always trucking right along.. i sleep 3 hours and work the rest of the day, 7 days a week. I start going nuts if i don't have something to do, and working on a mopar is the highest level of fun.

Rear Axle - EDIT : Thinking of using an 8-3/4 instead of the stock 8-1/4 or the dart 8-1/4 i have under it now.

Trying to decide which color i want to paint it, i'm split between painting it in the factory color (frosty mint green), hemi orange, or something else. i have a bunch of the mopar paint chip charts but i can't find them anymore, anybody know if i could find some online?

Not much on the car right now.. here's what i did so far

De-rusted the hood and fenders, complete bath of primer on the hood n fenders.

brand new rear bumper. (not installed)

New front shocks... New Air Shocks (Rear)

Dusted off a 78-82? ish 318/727 combo to run in the car until i finish the original motor. (went with a 340 instead)

Installed a 73 340 Instrument cluster  (Went with a Rallye Cluster Instead

Original motor is in storage

Edit : 12/27/06 : Decided not to use the late 70's 318/727 temporarily.  To much work just to pull it later on

Sandblasted the engine compartment & K-Frame, K-frame ready for a blast of Gloss Black and the engine compartment is ready for primer & whatever color i paint the car.

Finishing up some final body work and taping off the chrome & glass for a coat of Acrylic Etching Primer.

Here are the following Problematic Areas on the car (rust and or damage)

Driver Side 1/4 Panel has a hole roughly the diameter of a soda can, (i went rust bubble popping yesterday) and several pinholes in that area.

Hood has some dents and gouges that need filled and smoothed.

And the worst : The Passenger side 1/4. In my opinion i think somebody ripped a chunk of this 1/4 out on a curb or something at one time or another in the car's life. Why do i think that?

Somebody welded in new panels in an area that had no rust (inner and outer and part of the wheelwell) and the 1/4 has some decent warping to it. or maybe they had the heat set too high on the welder and it warped the metal.

Rockers have some small pinholes, door has a few dings, roof has some small dents, trunk has some small dents. And of course the inside of the tailight/Qaurter/trunk area has the common rusting and slight rustout found on A-bodies.

I'll try to get some pictures before i start blasting primer, as i'm nearly finished with the body work, i have some Straight Lining to do on the passenger side 1/4 and some final layers & sanding..

Also found a nice driveshaft to withstand the engine... the shaft from my dad's powerwagon 4x4, of course i'll have to change the length and rebalance it, but thats no problem.

once the body work is done and the car is primered up i'll decide the exterior color. Yeah i know i've had the car long enough i should have figured that out already, but there are soo many cool stock colors. Damn i'm on a roll with this car.

I promised pics, well here they are (i know they aren't the best qaulity, i don't have drivers for the dc215 on this computer so work with me)

Qaurter panel work underway - taped off the passenger side glass

An oh so common rust out area on A-Bodies

  Some hood work underway

Closeup of the Passenger 1/4 panel, some decent warping to it. still some more filling and straight lining before it's finished.

Passenger Door-Jam, some small pinholes. that gets filled too

Shag Rug Door panels.. getting rid of them.

The rust bubbles popped and being filled.

  Need i say anything?

Some of my tools, a straight liner, a disc sander.

A sprayer, some masking tape, and in the distance part of my dart.

Hood shot, some cheap body filler for the deep stuff, finishing work gets some dura-glass or bondo.

See that dent, i don't want it.  $5 and you can take the dent home for use on your vehicle

Brand new grille and surrounding parts.

If that picture was any clearer you could see a Mopar 3 speed minus bellhousing, a mopar starter, 2 holley 4bbl's a qaudrajet, a 2.6L starter, a cheby starter, some autometer gauges, a turbo off a 2.0 Laser and a thermoqaud.

  More tools, a Mac Sandblaster

Parts of the Dart, original door, original hood, Not Original deck lid (original is upstairs in storage)

  Side-Angle shot of the 1/4.

I've finally decided on a color.

Rallye Red, Black Vinyle Interior.

The front clip has been

Sandblasted Inner and Outer Fenders, Fenderwells, Firewall, Frame Rails, K-Frame, Core Support, Battery Cage, Hood, Rockers.

Primered : Inner & Outer Fenders, Fenderwells, Firewall, Frame Rails, K-Frame, Core Support, Battery Cage, Hood, Rockers.

Rubberized Undercoating applied to : Inner Fenders (the backside), Fenderwells, Frame Rails

Another Coat of Primer Applied over the Undercoating

Fire Red Paint applied over the primer/undercoat/primer in the following locations : Inner Fenders (backside), Fenderwells (side facing the fenders), Frame Rails.

I'll definatly get some pics of the front clip before i put the fenders back on the car.

No Pictures, my camera died.  As soon as i get another camera i'll post the pictures. Come Hell or High Water i will have this car finished by Spring 07.

Like i said i will finish this car by spring 07.  All in All when i'm finished i'll have about $9,000 in it.  And it will be painted in Rallye Red Acryllic (has a really nice shine to it) with 340 Stripes.

Some fuzzy dice on the mirror, a led zeppelin tape in the radio.

When you fixed the rot,you didn't just fill the holes with bondo I hope?If you spent 9K on it why didn't you cut out the rot and weld in new metal?

No it's all welded panels, the bondo is to straight line and fill in dents.  This car had lots of dents and filled in areas.  I cut out the rust and filled the 1/4's from the back.  the trunk jams were extras i cut out from a duster at the junkyard.

For the record i've filled in 49 dents on this car. 27 scratches/gouges and recovered one badly warped replacement 1/4 panel, filled in a nasty row of scratches that stretched across the driver's fender to the hood before stopping on the passenger fender.

The small pinholes i ground out with a dremel and then welded them shut with a mig. and ground them smooth with a dremel.

I don't have 9k in it yet, 9k is a finished estimate.  Thats everything from day 1 till the day i finish it.

New Camera WOO..so here's some of those pictures i promised.

Quarter panel shot, Trunk shots, Engine Compartment Shots, interior Shots, Fenderwell Shots, ect

Quarter panel shot.  just a little finish sanding and it's done

Door Shot. Remember what i said about dents and scratches.

Extension Panel Shot.  Not welded in place yet, nor lined up.  Just laying there for rough ideas.

Spare Tire Bay Shot.  Notice the rust out.  I've got a new Trunk Pan w/ Spare Tire Insert waiting to be installed.

Extension Pan 2.  This one needs just as much work, just haven't cut as much out yet.

  Extension pan 3

  Extension Pan 4

  New Hood Latching assembly

  Dash and interior

  Interior 2

Engine Compartment 1 : the engine compartment gets another coat of primer before painting.

  Engine Compartment 2

  Engine Compartment 3

Fenderwell Shot 1 : Primered, Undercoated and Painted in Fire Red, little bit of overspray on the shocks and control arms

Inner Fender Shot : Primered, Undercoated and Painted in Fire Red

  Parts, Parts And More Parts

Hood Shot : Primer is the best for revealing dents and scratches.  Once the hood is filled and sanded i'll bare metal it and reprimer.

Roof Shot : Thirsty? I send way too much time working on this car to drink the amount of soda cans laying around my car.

  Hemi Engine 1

Hemi Engine 2 : Meet Hemi, she's a tortie cat. Notice the camo colors? she blends in with almost any natural background.  Hemi is a pure sweetheart, very territorial though.  She won't move for anybody except me.  Now i've got monsterous power for my duster

A test coat of Red Oxide for locating small dents and scratches

Qaurter Panel is finished, still have to sand the rest of the Painted Stripe Kit off

This qaurter panel was badly warped, i had to make cardboard cut outs from my grandfather's twister for accuracy.  Tons of straight lining and eye work went into it.

  Got Chrome?

  More Chrome

  Even More shiny stuff

This is the last of the shiny stuff, i spray accessories in chrome paint while i wait for the bondo to dry.  Next to get sprayed is some valve covers, the Alt, The PS Pump and all the brackets.

  Bondo'd fender lip

  Repaired Gouges on the cowl

Repaired dents at the back of the fender, Red Oxide has a tendency to run, drip and clot despite prepping and spraying practices.  But it's a great way to detect dips, dents and scratches.

Filled dents around the Marker Light

I wish..

I'm waiting on some parts i ordered.

Though i'm kinda debating what i want to do, i went to my grandfather's yesterday (my dad used to strip totalled mopars, and he'd store the parts in sheds at his dad's house) So i was digging around for some Duster emblems and some 340 Emblems (the ones from the 340 darts).

While i was digging through some parts i came across 2 large tarped objects... What did i find when i pulled the tarps off... a 440 M/T engine from a 75 Powerwagon 4x4 (it had some performance work done before my dad pulled it 15 years ago)..and the other object was a 413 minus a head and intake.

I'm itching for that big block power in a small block car but i want something more than just your average big block.. If i could find a 426H i'd drop it in a heartbeat.

More stuff, got some small work done since the last post.

Some light pitting, i'll grind it down with the dremel and fill it in.

Started rough cutting the tire insert, once i get the bottom out i'll even out the cuts and prep the rest of the truck : Sandblast, wire brush, sandblast, wire brush, Repeat 2 more times.. before installing new panels...repeat 1 more time prior to primer.

Got a real deep dent near the window, i'll have to fix that soon.

Some minor dents to the fender, going to fix that tomorrow.

Deep chunk out of the door, with some light pitting from exposure.  gets fixed today.

Some light rust to the Deck Lid, i'll sandblast that sometime later this month.

  More of the Deck Lid

  Removed the rear bumper.

Rear bumper has some surface rust and light scratches..  This is why i'm going to wrap it in plastic and put it in storage, i have a new bumper i'm going to use on the duster instead.

Ouch..  i'm going to definatly repair that, bust out the grinder, some sheetmetal and a mig right away!

Rear crossmember looks good, just needs sandblasted.

  WOW!!

And here's what i've been sanding with for the last few days.  My dad's drywall sanding sheets somehow got mixed in with my pile-o-sandpaper and when i found them i thought..  "does my dad know something i don't?"  so i tried sanding with a chunk of a sheet (3 sheets per pack, you can cut a sheet into roughly 8 useable sanding chunks)  For 120 Grit it's amazing, it cuts like 60grit but without the gouges and pits 60 leaves behind.  It doesnt clog (if it does run your thumb over the clog and give the sheet a shake) and i've yet to wear out the small piece i've cut...  I removed the remains of the passenger side stripe kit, the entire driverside stripe kit,
at least 8 bondo'd areas have been sanded with it too and it still works.

I've moved the duster from my garage to my dad's garage for the finishing touches.

I'm reapolsthering all the interior myself, new dash pad, Rallye Cluster, A/C, Door Speakers, Side Panel Speakers, Headliner Speakers (2 Sets) 2 1000W amps, 320W Subwoofer, Center Console, Slapstik Shifter, New Woodgrain, Locking Glovebox, Alpine Cassette Deck

Outside needs some finishing body work, some Fender Turn signal Indicators, Roof Channel Chrome Trim, Chrome Wheel Mouldings, Factory Mudflaps, and a Go-Wing, I'll post some pictures later today or tomorrow.

Installing the new Trunk Pan,  I got a few spot welds down to hold it in place. This is the first time i've got to try out my new Spot Welder, works pretty nice.

Tomorrow i'll finish spot welding the pan in place, then i'll spot in the extra repair panels for the extension pans. Sandblast everything smooth, primer, trunk filler, primer and Rallye Red Paint.

I'll try to get some pictures tomorrow after i finish spotting the pan in.

Ok here's some pictures.

Trunk pan in place, several spot welds.

A string of spot welds, these are what successful spot welds look like, if you have too much burn thru, or not enough penetration adjust the amps and your timing

This is a Spot Gun, it's a handy little Spot Welder that hooks on to an Existing Arc Welder. The tips are replaceable, since they are very similar to the rods. the Nose also changes for Flat work and Angled/Corner Work

Qaurter Panel Shot, almost done with the exterior body work, Notice all those Magic Marker Circles? Its very helpful in highlighting dings and gouges for later filling.

Another qaurter panel shot, a freebie welder, Instrument cluster under Rebuild, and the neccesary parts for the 3-speed wiper switch conversion.

Interior shot, painted the dash Gloss Black, test fitting the repaired dash cap one last time before the final glue layer and black paint. After that everything comes out and the inside gets blasted in black, and prepped for the bucket seats

Shot of the door, more magic marker circles, and a magic marker line at the bottom, some finishing work left to do on the fender and the exterior is done

Another trunk pan shot, a word of advice. Dont expect this to fit right out of the box, because it wont.  You'll need to trim metal off the corners near the wheel wells, and at the back near the locking pillar supports. plus a few other minor areas. And you'll have to cut out the gas tank filler openning, along with anything extra like Spare Tire Brackets

Some Interior work. actually lots of interior work!

Working on the Headliner, Black vinyle

Rear side Panels, Black Vinyle, Pleated, Ready for Armrests and installation

Headliner, Surfaced in Black Vinyle with Thousands of Intentional Wrinkles. It's caused by a chemical Reaction in Contact Cement, which is why i used Contact Cement.

Headliner Installed, See how cool those thousands of wrinkles look when done on purpose?, also notice the freshly restored Sunvisor and Mirror.  I have to wipe the dust off them though, they've been sitting on a shelf for about 2 months

Notice the Dash Cap? anything weird?

It's Black Denim, with creases and small wrinkles to match the headliner.. also notice the corners have that "Sewn Seam" effect, to make em look like a pair of Jeans

Rear package tray, i tossed the new one in storage and worked this one over to match the rest of the interior.  Black Denim, Smoothed out this time, to match the lower Side Panels & Door Panels..  It's a Transition From Wrinkle Effect, To Smooth, To Pleated.

Notice that long black bar?  It's a Factory Rear Air (Defrosters).

The trunk pan is finished, i just need to spray the primer, brush the filler, and paint it.

I've also been working on the Trunk Lid, i decided not to go with the Go-Wing, but a diffrent Design, i've got about 6 hours invested in the lid alone.  Also installed a new master Cylinder, Swapped the Pedals back to "Auto" style.

Body work should be done in a few days and i'll be ready to primer the entire car, after that it's just interior, Engine/Trans/Axle and Rallye Red Paint

Almost done with the car, by next saturday it should be in primer (i dont get much done during the weekdays, the weekends are my day long investments to this car)

Here's the other Spoiler i decided to go with

Extension Pans are welded in and the trunk is ready for Primer, Trunk Filler/Putty, and Rallye Red.

  Corner Panel welded in

   Another Corner Panel Shot

  Spoiler Shot.

  Another Spoiler Shot

Another Spoiler Shot, boy it looks mean on this car

If you look closely you'll notice i carried the Trunk Lid Ridge up on to the spoiler and feathered it out at the end.

  another shot

Me too. I've had a 75 Dart Sport (360/4-speed) and a 71 Demon 340 (4-speed). Also had a 67 Barracuda fastback (440/727 swapped in, originally a 225/904 car) but this isn't the thread for that style car. Wink

Change in plans again, I postponed the paint to finish the current ideas/plans

I bought a 67 'Cuda Rallye Cluster (with Vaccum Gauge, Gonna Install That.  Gonna make a Stainless Steel Trim & Bezel Plate for the uncovered portion of dash (between the Cluster & Glovebox door) and a identical plate for the Glovebox Door

My Grandfather gave me permission to take any parts i want from his 1975 Volvo. (it's going to the scrapyard)  It's got Heated Leather Bucket Seats & a Heated Leather Rear Bench Seat   Grin  Those would look and feel really nice in the duster  Cool

Once the Cuda Cluster arrives in the mail i'm gonna start on the interior

Glad to see the build continues! Since this thread started, I picked up this:

It's a 72 Dodge Demon, 225/904 car. I've already bought a rebuilt 360 and an 8 3/4" axle (3.23 sure grip gears) off of a friend and have a 727 tranny lined up for the car as well. I may have to start my own build-up thread!  Wink

Sweet lookin Demon.  Paint it in Hemi Orange, Burnt Orange or Bright Red/Rallye Red and it would look like it was posessed by satan himself.

To make it even more wicked, put a set of Green or Red LED's behind the grille so it shines out through. muwahahaha  Shocked

Well the front seats from the Volvo can be saved & repaired.  The rear seat, well lets put it this way..    You Squirrels!  Gigantic holes everywhere.

So i repainted the spare rear seat for the duster.  I'm gonna try to install the heating elements from a heated seat in the rear seat.

Here's a shot of the fresh rear seat

Paint is still fresh, and for some reason my camera always has overexposure issues with fresh paint, must be the glossy shine that fresh paint gives off.

Gonna paint the Front & Rear Armrests Chrome/Aluminum to match the seat scheme.  It'll go perfect with the rest of the interior (which is black & chrome)

Heh my car had 2-Tone Green & White interior too when i bought it..  Fortunately it came with an extra set of seats and at least enough interior trim to complete 6 cars.  So i picked up some cans of Krylon Fusion and made some Black & Chrome Interior.  Piece of Advice.  Don't use the Kryon Fusion on the Horn Button/center cap, it will NEVER DRY!  Shocked

I had to wash the horn button down with Lacquer thinner to clean the paint off,  Bought some cans of Flat Black & Gloss Black Vinyle Dyes, made by a company called Mar-Hyde (a division of Bondo).. This stuff sticks to anything, And it dries fast too. Horn Cap/Button Dried (2 coats total and it was finished) in about 15 Minutes (safe to touch) But left it cure over night

Also sprayed the Kick Panels, Door Trim, ect in the same stuff (even though it's plastic), You can't hurt this stuff once it dries

1970-1974 Plymouth Cuda (Engine size doesnt matter)

My bad, it was the Concept Charger that was the 1965.

I think that first run 66-67 (or 65-67 if you want to include the concept and my mistake in the years  Wink) looks really cool compared to the newer ones

Working on The Rallye Cluster & Gauges.  Some Light Dremel Work & a little bit of Scrap Sheet Metal for Climate Control Brackets to fit the Late 72 - 76 Style A/C Climate Control in the earlier 67 - 72 Non-A/C Rallye Dash Bezel

Unlike the 72-76 Dash Bezels the 67-72 Bezel is all one Piece, the Warmer/Heat/Defrost/Off plate is part of the Bezel instead of being seperate.  So i dremeled out lightly to remove the Climate Plate and the 72-76 Climate Control fits in perfectly in that openning, You wouldn't know it wasn't original

Only problem is there's a Diffrence in Width & Layout on the 72-76 style (being more narrow and having the Fan Switch combined with the Controls)  So that left me with an Opening in the dash where the Fan Speed Switch from the 67 was installed.      Keep Reading, i'll explain later what i'm using that Switch Opening for.

Needing more space for Gauges and not wanting them scattered all over the underside of the dash i started drawing up Rough Drafts for a Center Console Gauge Pack (mostly a Replica of the one used in the 60's Hemi Cuda's that mounted between the Center Console and the A/C Vent / Dash.

It'll be a 3-Gauge Pack to match the ones found in 60's Cuda's with some slight diffrences (keep reading for those diffrences).  The Gauge Pack will hold these 3 Gauges

A Clock from a 1950's/1960's Plymouth/Dodge
Sunpro Super Tach II (Mini 2" Style Tach)

Here's where i tell you what i used that Switch Opening in the Climate Bezel for.  A Toggle Switch (matches the Rear Defroster & Map Switches, only miniature)  It'll control a small #194 Light Socket with the Green/Blue Light Covers found in the mopar instrument clusters in the 70's.  It'll be used to Illuminate a small portion of the center console & the Clock when i need to.  Since the clock is out of a 50's/60's Mopar it doesn't have provisions for a light socket, just notches in the plastic to allow light to flow in from the cluster

Here's where i tell you what the slight Diffrences between the 60's Cuda Console Gauge Pack and the One i'm Building are.

Similar structure/layout

Diffrent Texture & Paint, It'll be Chrome & Semi-Gloss Black, it'll transition from Gloss Black to Flat Black as it progresses from the Dash frame to the Center Console. With the Center/Front Plate being done in Chrome with Black Pin Stripe around each gauge & Accessories

Under the Gauges i'm going to Mount a 10-Band Alpine Equalizer in the Gauge Pack

Behind that Gauge Pack (hidden from sight) i'm going to mount a Bridged Amplifier from a newer Jeep Cherokee that i found in the junkyard

Well it was a looong day.

I Refinished the Rallye Cluster, Cut the Dash, Changed the Wiring Harness to match the Rallye Cluster and started to remove the 3 On the Tree (Auto) Steering Collumn, i'm replacing it with a 3 On the Floor/4 On the Floor (Floorshift P/S equipped Steering Collumn)

The Rallye Cluster is done in Argent Silver & Gloss Black, Dash Frame needs some Sanding and repainted in Gloss Black Again, bit of damage & scratching here & there from the modifications to fit in the R. Cluster.

Before -

After-

Look closely on the Floor and you'll see a Round Knob Style Slapstik Shifter from a 1970 Challenger/Cuda. Somebody butched out the Radio Openning on the Rallye Cluster so i made a Radio Bezel plate out of 3/16" Aluminum. Some Dremel work and tons of Filing and now it fits around the Alpine Cassette player perfectly and also blends in with the Dash

Sorry i haven't updated it in a while..

Duster is in Primer, Spot Putty covering any dings/scratches, Interior is going back together and it's almost prepped for the final Coat of Filler Primer & Rallye Red Paint  Grin

The primer made alot of dings & scratches appear that i couldnt see when it was purple  Cool Spot Putty over em, ready for sanding, primer, wetsand, filler primer, wetsand, Rallye Red  Grin

Interior shot : 1971 Duster 1/4 Windows with the Long Chrome Arms, set of 100W Pioneer 3-Way Honeycomb Woofer Speakers (Package Tray), Set of 5" Speakers (Package Tray), Black & Argent Silver Rear Seat, Set of 400W 3-Way 6x9" Speakers (1/4 Panels, near the Armrests).  All the rear glass is tinted  Grin, Now all i need to do (someday maybe) is swap the door glass and windshield for tinted versions.  but thats not really important right now

My First A-Body was a Late 1972 Demon that came off the assembly line with a 73 Dart Clip & Tail, it was quite the weird car.  Had the 72 Interior, Door handle & Panel Style, Door tags labeled it as November or December 1972 IIRC and 73 Exterior  Huh I figured it was somebody using parts off various cars but it turns out that it left the factory like that.   Such a shame that it was too far gone to help, i managed to save everything that i could off the car though  Cry  It was a 340 Floorshift Auto A/C Car too, more options than a person could count.  It came with an extra motor when i bought it : a brand new 340 X Block (minus the Left Head & Intake, bored .100 with domed pistons & 4-Bolt Main Caps  Shocked)  Which is the motor i'm using in the Duster, except with T/A Heads (2.25 Intake Valves), Adjustable Rockers & a Aftermarket 6-Pack Intake (not installed yet)

The Duster was my 2nd A-Body and my First "True" project car, i say project car because it started as a numbers matching vehicle (which i still have every single part, it can be reversed back to original if i ever want to do that) and turned into this Road Terror i'm building  Grin

The Dart..well ehehehe that was sheer luck when i found it, Friend of my dad's was selling it for $1,000.  Numbers Matching 340 4-Speed w/ A/C & Conver-Triple Package (plus tons of other options).  For the longest time i was under the impression that the original 340 had died in the 90's so i was going to stuff a 1968 Police Intercepter 440 in the car (hmm i can always use that for 'another project') when the seller got back to me, he'd found the original 340.  It needed cleaned up and a new top end (heads, cam, intake, ect)  But the numbers match the Vin  Cool

So once i finish the duster i'm gonna assemble the Dart (roughly 97% complete right now)

---

As for questions, eh you wouldnt happen to know this would you.  The Custom Dusters/Valiants did they use a "Valiant Custom" Emblem or a "Duster Custom" Emblem?  I can't remember which it was.  I'm gonna try to find em next time i go to the junkyard and if not i'll get a decal made.  It's going on the Glovebox Door just like the 60's Cuda's had the "Barracuda" emblem on the glovebox door..  Or i could just get a decal made out of her nickname for the glovebox door, use the Demon emblem for the design and have it say "Christine" with the "n" being part of the pitchfork like the "m" in the Demon version  Grin

--

Someday it's gonna get some more nifty parts.

1971 Duster/Twister Sharktooth Grille
1971 Duster/Demon/Twister Side Marker Lights
1971 Duster/Twister Hood with a Cuda' Shaker Scoop  Shocked
3/4 Vinyle Top

Oh yeah and Right after i paint it, the car is going to get a set of Custom 340 Stripes based off the 1971 style.

Same basic layout but the 1/4 Panel 340 pieces will have T/A added directly below the 340.. and on the Hood instead of saying 340 Wedge it will say 340 6-Pack  Cool

--

I've seen Pictures of that 71 Demon you've got.  That is one wicked looking car, must be a blast to drive  Cool

I've been curious about the Custom thing too - We just picked up a super nice little '74 Dart Custom 4-door, and I thought it was a Swinger but I think all the Swingers were 2-doors, but I'm not sure all the 4-doors were Customs?  Not sure if this'll help or not but here is a pic of the fender:

Love A-body's - this one is my daily driver.  It's a slant 6/auto - nice and simple.  I'm sure I'll hop it up down the road  Wink

Well i know of at least one 2-Door Dart Custom, i grabbed the emblems off the door panels last time i was at the junkyard.  Looked like a 69 Dart, maybe a little older, Slant 6, A/C, Power Steering, 2-Door with "Dart Custom" Emblems on the door panels.  Now that i think about it the 2-Door Custom i got the emblems from may have been a 270 Model.
