yeah with your rear bumper and the mirrors he's buying off of me it's going to look even better than it already does. slanted_mind i have a question to ask you about those outer sill plates. my rc didn't come with any installed and i currently just have some black plastic ones that installed with double sided tape. they look good but the tape doesn't stick to well. do you think if i bought a set of the outer ones i could just drill the holes and put the screws in or would i have to tap the holes?

I just took the outers off my R/C to go onto my pick-up and they're self-tappers-sorta......just make a small enough hole so they grab good.......

Hey Slanted_mind, is that a custom pillar pod(s) or did you buy that somewhere? So far I've only seen them for the 94-up trucks...or is that what that is and it fits?

Thanks!!

Jimbo, my truck never had outer sill plates either.  As waynaferd said, you just drill 6 holes the size of the screw shank, and the screw grabs the sheetmetal.  The screws provided are not self-tapping per-say, but do have threads all the way down to the point, so they grab a pre-drilled hole easily.  I used a dab of silicon on each hole to prevent rust. Wink

Waynaferd, the gauge pod is made for 86-89 trucks (what the difference is for 81-85 and 90-93 I don't know).  It is an autometer unit I got from summit.  It appears to be made to fit trucks with pillar trim (mine has none) but It still fit reasonably well.  My only gripe is the upper pod is aimed a little high for my taste (the lower one is fine), but it works, I can still see the gauge (I have an air/fuel ratio gauge mounted in the top hole).  I'll see if I can find a P/N for you.

Hey SM. When you recovered your visors, did you take them completely off the arms or what?

No, I just removed the visor as a unit from the headboard.  I used my mom's sewing maching to make a "tube" out of the fabric, and slid it over the visor. Wink

i was wondering if you had to get the spacer to get your optima battery to fit? i know that they sell a spacer to raise them up some. i'm going to get a red top and one of the quick disconnects, so i can unhook it in a hurry with no tools. i'm just thinking ahead in case i have another horn incident. lol.

For a stock hold-down I do not know.  I bought some generic chrome hold down rods from the parts store when I installed it because the originals were is such bad shape.  IIRC I did have to run a die down each of the threaded rods to extend the threads. Undecided
