Weak Link: Low amp alternator  (65 amp stock )

Models Affected: 80-93 Dodge trucks

What Happens: 65 amp stock alternator won't handle typical electrical upgrades

Strong Fix: Some models had factory installed 100 amp alternators. Find 100 amp alternator bracket from car recycler . You should also buy grade 8 bolts for the install. A wire size upgrade is needed if you want to take advantage of the new alternator's higher output.

Stock 100 amp alternators are available from local parts houses for 90 dollars . you can get them in single or double pulley configurations .
