I've often heard that driveshafts with slip yokes should be phased so both yoke "ears" are in alignment, as opposed to being 90* out. I just wanted to confirm this before installing my driveshaft. What's the verdict?

yup one tooth [spline] off on the slip yoke and it throws the u-joint phase out and can cause vibration - binding and shorter u-joint life

Thanks! is that all? should at least be worth a virtual beer. Why? Your text above and below your picture contradicts itself! top pic is wrong, bottom is correct.

Lol, I love the pic though. I've struggled a few times trying to explain about how the yokes need to point the same way or how the caps need to be lined up or some other confusing way of describing it. That pic sums it up perfectly.

I do believe this thread is FAQ-worthy.

Actually, it seems from re-reading your text and reading responses of some other folks, there might be a picture you're showing that isn't coming through here at work. I just see the one diagram. Hence the text seems like it would be confusing.

Yes a pirate picture of actual driveshaft. Pirate may not allow remote hosting, I'm not sure. If you cannot see it, you can still click here: http://www.pirate4x4.com/tech/billavista/PR-shaft/phase.jpg

Not only do you get two for the risk you took of creeping around pirate (you never know what you might contract), I'm also going to take a picture of a correctly phased driveshaft, so RCC has their own.
