oh..and I wont even mention the cap coming off of my pass. drive KM2 which thrashed my exhaust. Does anyone have a hookup with BFG? My dealer tells me their new policy is "you replace the tire at your expense, then ship us the bad one, at your expense, then we'll see if there is something we can do. Thankfully Im running a fletbed or i would have lost a bed side..again. Here's my question..is running a d range tire 1200 miles with a loaded trailer going to cause a tire to blow the cap? I realize its a vague question..just wondering

I did that in the middle of summer on a set of well used tires. Cheap ones at that (master crap). Perhaps my trailer just wasn't as loaded as yours. I only had about 6000lbs between the crap in the bed and the trailer.

Hey Joe, These things cant have 10000 miles on them..great tread still...the only good thing is I loaded the trailer with the floor jacks in FRONT by the escape door..just in case. And having my guys with 2 semi's and another '05 p/u behind helped. We had the tires swapped in no time. I put the spare stocks from both dodge trucks on the rear( e range) and made it the other 800 miles with no problems. Well, tire problems anyway(see other posts Embarrassed)

I went from michigan to Texas with my '94 ram 2500. Mostly straight shot, truck usually didn't shut off even while fueling, ate on the move, those tires just continued rolling down the road for a majority of the trip minus a 1 hour nap, some time to repair a trailer blow out, and later swap a tail light. The asphalt was hot, this was the middle of july. Tires were mastercrap 305/70/16 with ~25,000 miles on them. Trailer was set up for a good bit of tongue weight. Load range D.

Wait, I'm going outside right now to make sure they aren't E range, just in case.

They are mastercrap courser C/T D range 305/70/16. Not really a great tire, but I guess they suffice.  Not making a recommendation, just saying that went same distance(+) w/o issue. I've also had a nail in one for about 9 months, too worn off for extraction. Hasn't posed an issue, so it will stay there until I replace them, maybe end of the year.

so you obviously had good luck..and so have I until this trip...thats why I think I had a bad tire..Im of the opinion that they should give me 2 new tires..who wants one new tire that you have to try to rotate in..??I think theyre lucky Im not trying to charge them for my exhaust repair. Its probably not reasonable but Im a STAND BY YOUR WORK kind of guy...thats how my company operates anyway

I believe BFG builds a much higher quality tire, or would sure like to think so.

While it is right for them to do that, I also believe they would take the risk of losing a customer, in order to prevent the immediate loss of money. Guess it can't hurt to try. I will be impressed enough if they even replace the defective one. Not saying they shouldn't, would just be surprised if they don't try to find some excuse or try to cite some abuse clause ect ect.

I agree, Im a capitalist..its all about the money so I dont get too upset, but still, even the biggest corps.makes mistakes and without us they dont exist..its a fine line. My dealer did tell me he would give me the direct line to BFG because he thought Id have more luck as an upset, repeat customer than a vendor..dunno
